1. School A’s prom committee representing the number of students attending the prom and the cost of prom are given by the graph below. 

You need to Explain how the original graph for school A will change from the description given for each school indicated below and then represent it on the graph.

a) Another School B’s Prom committee has a lower cost for renting a banquet hall and a greater cost per person. 

b) A third School C’s Prom committee has a higher cost for renting a banquet hall and the same cost per person.

For a linear equation Y= aX + b, where a is the coefficient and b is a constant.

What does constant represent in a linear equation? The intercept of the y axis and the plotted line Y= aX + b, or the distance from origin to the intercession point.

What does the coefficient of the x represent in a linear equation? The slope or sensitivity, the change of y per 1 unit change of x.

Rental charge is a fixed charge=> this represents the constant

Cost per person is the slope or the sensitivity per person.

1. constant will determine the location of the intersection and the cost per person will determine the slope of the line to be steeper or flatter or remain the same.
