When the terminals of a 100-volt battery are connected to 2 large parallel horizontal plates 2cm apart, the electric field in the region between the plates is very nearly uniform with magnitude E= 10^3 N/C. Suppose the direction of E is vertically upward, compute the force of an electron in this field, and compare it with the weight of the electron.

could you please elaborate where 1.6 E - 10 and 1.6E = 13 is from? also the -30 in the weight of the electron

the mass and charge on an electron are physical properties you can find in your text ...or google

oh!! thanks!! btw, last question, i hope u respond. it says in my text that the mass of an electron is 9.1 E-31kg. how did it become 8.93E-30?

it didn't ... you should note that mass and weight are two different things

Does the 'compare it with the weight of the electron' means we need to divide the Force with the Weight?

Also, shouldn't 1000*1.6E-19 be equals to 1.6E-16?
