Was/is Thrace a part of the Balkans? Would the Ottoman Empire have conquered Thrace, or captured Thracians in the XV century?

Hello. Yes, Thrace was and is part of the Balkans. The old name of Thrace is no longer used, and the former territories of this ancient land today are mainly the country of Bulgaria together with the European part of Turkey.

And yes as well, the Ottomans began the conquest of Thrace in the XIV century, when it was part of the Byzantine Empire. It ended when they were able to take the city of Constantinople in 1453.
