first you need to find the percentage of the population we have.
so
(15/ 40) * 100 = 37.5 %
37.5 % / 100 = 0.375
now you want to find out with this rate of population that we found above, how many racoons do we have now if we used to have 1500 racoons.
so
0.375 *X = 1500
X = 4000
is the population of the racoons
