Drawing an inference is to make an educated guess, so if you are drawing an inference about the meaning of a scientific or math term based on Greek, Latin and Anglo-Saxon roots, it might look something like this:
The word toxo implies poison which is from the Greek τόξον for a bow (IE poisoned arrows). So isotoxal is an arc, and toxodon is a bow (referring to bowed teeth).
OR
The shinbone is called tibia from the Latin word for flute because it is shaped like a Roman flute.
So, you can infer that if something is "tibial" in medical terminology it refers to the shinbone.
