The are of the flag is 160 square feet. What are the actual dimensions of the length and width of this flag?

(x+12)(x+6) = x²+18x+72= 160

x²+18x-88 = 0

x = (-18+√(18²-4(-88))/2 or factor into (x-4)(x+22)

x = 4, -22

Use 4 since it is a dimension

Width = x + 6= 10 ft

Check: Length×Width = 16×10 = 160
