This is a homework sheet and I have little idea on where to start
Create a graph showing the speed of the milluniem falcon.
Time (x: hours) | Distance (y: light years) |
2 | 5 |
4 | 10 |
6 | 15 |
8 | 20 |
Explain what the point (10,25) means on the graph of the milluniem falcon For the Milluniem falcon, is the relantionship proportional?
Part 2:
Create a graph showing a starfighters speed
Time (x: hours) | Distance (y: light years) |
3 | 6 |
7 | 14 |
9 | 18 |
15 | 30 |

If Darth Vaders starfighter flew at a constant speed for 24 hours, how far would it fly?
Write an eqaution showing the distance (y) the Millenuim Falcon can fly for any amount of hours (x)
If the Millenuim Falcon has flown for 120 light years, how much time has passed?
What point on the graph represents the unit rate for the Millunium Falcon?

For part 1 the point (10,25) means that in 10 hours the Millennium Falcon travelled 25 light years. The data table here shows a proportional relationship between time, in hours, and distance, in light years where every 2 hours the Millennium Falcon travels 5 light years and this proportional relationship is also linear as a result of this proportionality. The second data table for the starfighter speed also shows a proportional relationship between the time and distance due to the time and the distance increasing at a constant rate of 2. From these data tables it seems that the Millennium falcon flew faster than the starfighter because the Millennium Falcon had travelled a distance of 30 light years in 12 hours whereas the starfighter travelled that same distance in 15 hours a 3 hour difference.
The equation that would model the millennium Falcons speed would then be y=2.5x because 2,5 is the distance that the Millennium Falcon would cover in 1 hour when traveling while x is the time in hours and y is the distance in light years.
The time for 120 Light years for the Millennium Falcon would be 120=2.5x->120/2.5=x->x=48 hours.
As for the unit rate of the Millennium Falcon it is 2.5 since it is a linear proportional relationship and also (10-5)/(4-2)=5/2 of 2 and 1/2 and 1/2 which is the same as 0.5 so the unit rate is 2.5 and the dame can be found for the rest of the points.
The starfighter on the other hand has a unit rate of 2 due to this
14-6/7-3=8/4 or 2 and 18-14/9-7=4/2 or 2
30-18/15-9=12/6=2
Therefore the all the points for the starfighter also reveal what its unit rate is also.
I hope this helped you.
