Sodium chlorate decomposes into sodium chloride and oxygen gas as seen in the equation below. 

­­2NaClO3­ --> 2NaCl +3O2

How many moles of NaCl were produced by 7 moles of NaClO3­? Round your answer to the nearest whole number.

In given equation, 2 moles of NaClO3 produces 2 moles of NaCl, the ratio here is 2:2 but as required that if 7 moles of NaClO3 react so how many moles of NaCl is produced so same 7:7 that is 7 will be produced.

this can also be solved by another method

2 moles of NaClO3 = 2 moles of NaCl

7 moles of NaClO3 = x moles of NaCl

cross multiply both

2 into x = 7 into 2

2x= 14

x=7
