1.) 2 NH3 + 3 CuO g 3 Cu + N2 + 3 H2O

In the above equation how many moles of N2 can be made when 13 moles of CuO are consumed?

 

2.) Sodium chlorate decomposes into sodium chloride and oxygen gas as seen in the equation below. 

­­2NaClO3­ --> 2NaCl +3O2

How many moles of O2 were produced by 4 moles of NaClO3­? Round your answer to the nearest whole number.

(1). 3 moles of CuO produces 1 mole of N2 from the equation

Divide by 3

1 mole of CuO - (1/3) moles N2

13 moles of CuO - 13 X (1/3) = 4.33 moles of N2 produced

2 moles NaClO3 , 3 moles O2

1 mole NaClO3, 3/2 moles O2

4 moles NaClO3, 4 x (3/2) moles O2 = 6 moles
