1.Tomorrow's chances of getting a lot of snow are 0.2 (Probability). There is a 75% chance that Kate will be late for school if it snows. If it does not snow, there is a 35 percent chance that she will be late.
Calculate the likelihood of Kate being late for school tomorrow.
Is 43% the answer?

p (snow and Kate is late) = 0.2 x 0.75
p (no snow and Kate is late) = (1-0.2) x 0.35
As these events are independent we add the probabilities
Probability Kate is late = 0.2 x 0.75 + 0.8 x 0.35 = 0.43 = 43 %
