For summaries, I love to look at blurbs (the little paragraph on the back of books) for guidance. Main character name, distinguishing features of character, is involved in what conflict and what are they going to do to get out? A summary is a bit easier than a blurb because you can give away some things, the ending and other issues that come up. What happened, why was it important. Especially for Ishmael, there's not much happening, so what does the main character learn from what he went through might be the most important part of your summary.
