In this problem we divide the prism into two halfs to form two right angled triangles then apply the Pythagorean Theorem which states ;

where;

	=	hight of triangle
	=	base side
	=	slant edge

8² + b²=10²

b²=(100-64)

b=6

but since the base has two halves then total base length will be :6 x 2 = 12
