Given this ratio x:y
In English, this would mean for every "x" amount of something there are "y" amount of something else.
In our example...
For every 5 students...
3 student buy a sandwich
2 student do not buy a sandwich
2:5 would mean for every 2 student who buy a sandwich 5 do not. (which is incorrect)
We need 3:2 which means for every 3 student who buy a sandwich 2 do not. This is correct.
Hope this helps!
