asked 04/01/21I need to write about a cultural myth Can you please help me What topic should i choose These are the steps that i will follow on my essay but im struggling what topic i should pick
Step 1: Choose a cultural myth that interests you. Step 2: Introductory paragraph contains your thesis statement (main idea), describing the cultural myth. Remember, an introductory paragraph begins with general information and ends with more specific information about the cultural myth you chose. Next, provide some specific examples of that myth in our society. Step 3: Describe the myth by answering the following questions: When did it start? How have Americans been shaped or influenced by this myth? Who or what group(s), have benefitted from the myth enabling it to become so pervasive? Who or what group(s) have been negatively influenced by the myth? How has the myth contributed to the idea of ‘the American dream,’ how Americans think or act, or Americans’ overall identity? Step 4: Conducting research – Find two articles, preferably in The New York Times, about how a person and/or group of people have been adversely (negatively) affected by pursuing this cultural myth. For each article: Summarize it and provide two or three examples to support its thesis.

Hello, Anjela,
There are plenty of cultural myths to choose from. I'd pick the number 13, myself. In particular, Friday the 13th. Why? Who came up with this idea and why? Should I be nervous that although my hotel room is on the 14th floor, that I discover there is no 13th floor? The elevator goes from floors 12 to 14, and I can count 12 floors below me. Should I move?
Have fun with this,
Bob

What are you interested in? Identify with something and you can find out the extent to which your said interest has been mythologized. Here’s an obvious and concrete suggestion: the worldwide myth of the need to fear/oppress the biological female. This exists in every culture of the world since time immemorial. Fear of the Female as a topic easily answers all of your prompt questions.04/10/21
