First, let's start by understanding the definitions of the words "conclusive" and "exploratory."
Conclusive refers to something that is decisive or proven. It can mean undeniable. These questions will have very firm answers. Exploratory questions are meant to learn more about a topic. These may be characteristics of a topic or things associated with the topic.
Answers that can be proven, and questions that often have a Yes/No response are usually conclusive:
1) Does dark chocolate have fewer calories than milk chocolate?
2) Does peanut butter have less fat than almond butter?
3) Is there a candy bar that has chocolate, almonds, marshmallows, caramel, and peanut butter?
Exploratory questions have less permanence or firmness to their answer.
1) Where are almonds grown? How do we answer this question... we can say they are grown on trees or we can make a list of the countries that almonds grow in. There are a number of ways to answer this question.
2) What is the nutritional value of dark chocolate? We can say that it has antioxidants and linked to reducing blood pressure, but it is difficult to give a specific value of dark chocolate because sugar is unhealthy.
3) What kind of candy bars are currently available in the US? We can make a list, but it is unlikely we can name EVERY single one, and the list is likely to change with the market.
Hope this helps.
