6x - 12y = 24
-2( -x - 6y = 4)
6x - 12y = 24
2x + 12y = -8
8x = 16
x = 16/8
x = 2
-2 - 6y = 4
-6y = 6
y = 6/-6
y = -1
(2,-1)

There are several ways to do the problem. One would be be graph the lines together to find the intersection. Another way is by substitution. One example that this method is underneath:
since we know that 6x - 12y = 24, we can say that x - 2y = 4 by dividing both side by six. Afterward, we can solve for x, which will come to be x = 2y + 4. Now, you can replace every x of the second equation with 2y + 4 since we know that is the value of x. The second equation will come to be -(2y +4) - 6y = 4. Simplifying and evaluating the equation will lead to:
-2y - 4 - 6y = 4
-8y = 8
y = -1
After finding the value of y, you can replace this value to your previous equation you made. (x = 2y + 4).
Afterward, solve for x:
x = 2(-1) + 4
x = -2 + 4
x = 2
The answer to this problem will be (2, -1)
