There are really 2 Golden Ages of Children's Literature, but most instructors are referring to the first one that was from about 1850 through World War I. That period was considered a "purity" period, and much more "likeable" than others. This was an age where it was thought if you taught a child to do right, even the most precocious child would end up doing right. I think a few of my most favorite books from that era are: Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Black Beauty, and Treasure Island. But there are MANY more!!
