Dear Congressperson,
I support providing financial subsidies to shipping and transportation companies that are considering switching from gasoline and diesel to hydrogen fuel cells in their ground vehicles. There are several important reasons for this position:
First, hydrogen fuel cells produce electricity through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, and the only byproduct is water vapor. This means that vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells emit "no harmful pollutants or greenhouse gases" at the point of use, which can help reduce air pollution and combat climate change.
Second, hydrogen is a "renewable energy source" when produced using sustainable methods such as electrolysis powered by solar or wind energy. This can decrease our dependence on fossil fuels and help transition our economy toward cleaner energy.
While the initial costs of hydrogen fuel cell technology are high, government subsidies can help make this transition more affordable and accelerate the adoption of cleaner transportation options for the benefit of public health and the environment.
Sincerely,
Your Name
Two facts included:
Hydrogen fuel cells emit only water vapor, not harmful pollutants or greenhouse gases.
Hydrogen can be a renewable energy source if produced sustainably, reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
