enzyme denaturing

Question

Incubation of an enzyme at 38 degrees denatures the enzyme however if you add a substrate at the same temperature the enzyme is active. Why is this?

I assume you mean adding a substrate at the same time and temperature, not just at the same temperature. In that case, it would appear that the active site might be vulnerable to the 38º temperature, but when a substrate is added at the same time, it binds to and protects the active site, thus maintaining enzyme activity.
