asked 12/24/20Smooth muscle contraction- graph!
Hi,
I am provided with two experiments, with 2 tables of results, but I am unsure what graph I should use and what I should put on the x and y-axis.
In the first experiment, trachea strips are put intro tyrode solution, and the tension changes were recorded. I am provided with an increasing concentration of β2-adrenoceptor agonist (until mean reaches 1), the mean and the standard error of the mean (SEM) was also calculated (where mean and sem is relative relaxation).
In the second, trachea strips are put into tyrode's solution, and the tension changes are recorded. I am provided with 6 recordings of 0.2 micromoles of β2-adrenoceptor agonist and then another b2-adrenoreceptor but this time in the presence of an inhibitor.
I know I could compare the second experiment of the concentration with or without the inhibitor.
But I'm not sure how to compare the two experiments.
Thank you so much for helping.

Hi Vivien C.,
Look like you have a dose-response curve for the first experiment, but I can't tell what the heck the setup is in the second experiment -- repeated dosages of the same amount/concentration of agonist? Increasing increments, cumulative? And what does "another" agonist mean? A different chemical ? That would be comparing apples with oranges. Or, another series of the same agonist type, but with a constant level of antagonist?
Too many loose ends here --
