At the start of the war Poland, United Kingdom, and France were the Allied Powers. The Axis Powers were Germany, Italy, Japan, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Yugoslavia.
At the start of the war the United States was practicing isolationism and remained neutral. Spain too remained neutral as they had their own internal battles they had just finished dealing with. Per usual Switzerland, Sweden, and Portugal were neutral, although they did provide supplies to the Allies.
By October 1939 Germany had acquired Austria, Czech. and Poland.
