The Pax Romana, or Roman peace, lasted approximately 200 years. It led to a lot of advancements in Roman society. These include changes in government, laws, engineering, and literature. Julius Cesar helped transform the government into a bureaucracy. The Roman system of law paved the way to our current system by having courts similar to ours. Some engineering feats include many public works such as roads, bridges, and monuments. Due to this being a time of peace, literature made many advancements as well. Poets and writers wrote about the greatness of Rome.
