A year ago, the government intervened in the increasing wealth disparity between the upper and middle class. Congress implemented a new taxation system that eliminated exemptions and loopholes being exploited by high-earning Americans and corporations in hopes of disrupting the status quo. It was speculated that wealth would be redistributed and that the middle class would boom once again. However unsuccessful, Congress imposed this new system with good intentions. The failure of these policies show that mere principle will not be sufficient to bring about real change in this country.
