As you read the story, think about who the monster speaks to, what he says, and how he says it. Using these clues, make inferences about the monster. Think about how he must be feeling, what is his personality like, how does he feel about his life?
Then think about how his words might give you a clue about what will happen later in the story (foreshadowing). What clues did the author give you in these chapters?
