A freezer is set to turn on and start cooling if the temperature rises above -10 Celsius. The cooling turns off when the freezer has reached a temperature of 16 Celsius. Write a compound inequality to model the temperature of the freezer
- You can just piece meal this by reading a bit at a time and entering the information into an inequality so:
- rises above means it does not include -10; therefore the first part would be -10<x
- turns off when it has reached, means includes; therefore, second half would be x ≤16
- Now just put together: -10 <x ≤16 compound inequality model
Does this help you understand how to do this type of problem better? I hope!
