So the most important part about this assignment is to first look up the meanings of the words you were given. For instance:
Culpable: To be responsible for... like if something bad happens while you were driving a car, you are culpable because you were the driver.
Premise: A theory based on known facts, a conclusion drawn but not yet proven.
So write each of the words out, look up their definitions, and then come up with a cool story! This story looks like it might be a mystery or a crime story because of the words, but you could go ANYWHERE with it!

Hey! Great question!
Writing a short story is all about the OUTLINE. Before you sit down to write, take the time to generate a rough outline of where its going. That way you can make sure your ending is amazing and clearly matches your introduction.
Example: write a short story using THESE words: absolute, myriad, resolute, voracious, rectify
OUTLINE
Premise of the story: a young girl who wants to defeat a monster who is attacking her town has to gather supplies
Introduction:
- introduce young girl (name, age, description)
- talk about her qualities (use the word resolute). She was resolute in her determination to defeat the monster
- introduce the monster! what does it look like/do/why is it bad?? (use the word absolute). The monster was absolutely the worst thing that had happened to the town!
Paragraph 1
- The girl gathers supplies (use the word myriad) The girl found a long broom, a sharp rock, and a very stretchy string. She collected these and myriad other supplies and headed to the center of town.
- The girl tries to get people to help her
- The people don't want to help her (they are afraid)
Paragraph 2:
- the girl starts to fight the monster alone
- the monster is winning!
- the townspeople watch in horror
Paragraph 3:
- the tide turns!!! make this the climax
- the people want to help
- use the word rectify: the townspeople understood that by not helping the girl, she was certain to fail. It was an old man who took the first step to rectify their mistake. He grabbed a large rock from the ground and advanced towards the square, where the girl cowered behind a small wall, the monster advancing dangerously close.
Conclusion:
- tie it up! give the ending
- use the word voracious: As the townspeople began to throw potatoes at the monster, he started to do something surprising: eat them! The people wondered: when would the voracious appetite of the monster be satisfied?
- After what seemed like forever, the young girl walked towards the hungry beast. "Go! be gone!" she yelled. The monster looked up and saw all the townspeople behind her. The monster promptly turned around and ran into the forest.
- The girl had learned an important lesson: she had been brave, and her bravery had inspired bravery in the others. The townspeople learned an important lesson too: they were stronger together.
