Ampicillin effect

Hi! I wonder of Ampicillin kills bacteria and if I am right:

It kills it by preventing the cell wall to be built up and when the bacteria cell will divide, there is no cell wall to hold it together so it lysates

Ampicillin is a cell was synthesis inhibitor. They are also known as beta lactams.

The mechanism of action is they inhibit the peptidoglycan synthesis.
