Hi Kimora! This is an example of a metaphor AND a hyperbole! The author is comparing the subject's tears to a shower. We know that nobody is acually taking a shower in a person's tears, but this imagery helps us to understand how much she's crying.
It's also a hyperbole because, well, most people don't have a stream of tears that would be equivalent to the power of a showerhead or even a rain shower! It's a huge exaggeration which helps us to be able to picture how hard "she" is crying!
