Usually when people debate patriotism and humanism, they're referring to the tenants of nationalism and globalism. In other words, patriotism focuses on the citizens of a state and their national identity. Humanism focuses on human beings as a collective species, regardless of nationality. This is why some people argue that the two viewpoints can't coexist, because a nationalist will prioritize their wellbeing over foreign entities, therefore they can't claim to value all humans equally.

Hello Harsh,
By definition...
Humanism emphasizes the importance of real-life human beings (as opposed to supreme beings with supernatural powers such as holy figures) in terms of their value and contributions made to the world.
Patriotism focuses solely on citizens showing support for one’s own country in terms of upholding its values, showing its “true colors”, supporting its mission, acknowledging its history and the people who have shaped it, and fulfilling one’s own civic duties.
I hope this information helps to get the ball rolling for your upcoming debate, Harsh! Good luck with it all!
