I have been given a few offers for in-person homeschool tutoring for individual and groups of students. But I have turned them all down due to the risk of contracting COVID-19. I have been tutoring exclusively online since April for that very reason. If schools are going to remain closed in the Fall, then all tutoring should remain online for the same reason until further notice. Even if a tutor wears a mask and stays six feet apart from his or her students at all times during in-person tutoring, that is still not enough to prevent the spread of the virus in such close physical quarters.
Since students are already used to distance learning, then online tutoring will ultimately come naturally to them. Even though most students may learn better and benefit more from in-person instruction, everybody’s physical health is the top priority at this time.
