I think it is important to establish the context of the word "important," because the word is so subjective. Due to this, I would say that the decision is personal. However, my personal opinion is that it is always a good idea to celebrate important events in your life because personal growth, achievement and progression is not easy. It is always something that should be recognized and indeed celebrated.

Interesting question; you can answer both ways depending on your personal feelings, I would assume. However, I would say yes it is important to celebrate important events in order to better preserve the memory of such an event. It also helps you share with others, as these celebrations would often be with others (family and friends), so you'd not only be celebrating yourself, but others as well as they share in this moment with you.
