asked • 05/18/20I have a essay to write that's due in 10 hours from now and she wants it in MLA format and other specifics but that's not the issue. I need to know how to write an essay like this that's not really argumentative or informative and no real evidence should be cited from trusted sources except myself. I'm essentially asking how do I write my paragraphs. The essay is about making a "Freshman Survival Guide". Since I'm a freshman she essentially wants us to state for incoming freshman what do and not to do to get by but I don't know how I would make my essay. I don't know how I'd structure my paragraphs at all. I'm not used to this type of writing.

Well, the essay would be written as your point of view. I would start off talking about how you felt when you walked in to college the first day. Your thoughts and feeling. Then go on to say how you "survived" it. I think you can be really creative with this. I would also include some humor!

Since your paper doesn't require any sources, you should write your essay from your own experience and perspective. As you are writing your essay, you can reflect on your college experience as a first-year student and then frame your paragraphs around that. You should ask yourself questions, such as, What advice do you recommend for incoming first-year college students?, What do you advise new college students should do during their first year?, What information you wish you would have known?, and Is there anything you would not recommend to incoming college students?
Since you are finishing up your first year at college, you have a whole year of experience to reflect and tell others about advice, tips, and suggestions for incoming college students. You should frame your paragraphs with ideally one topic per paragraph to make the essay flow more easily.

You can use similar questions to ask yourself as you frame your paragraphs but for high school freshmen. In your introductory paragraph, you should answer the question, or something similar, for your thesis statement: What do you recommend high school freshmen do and not do to have a successful year? From there, you can frame your thesis statement to something like this: "High school freshmen should do (x, y, z). On the other hand, high school freshmen should not do (or I do not advise high school freshmen to do) (x, y, z)." Then, for each paragraph, you should explain each point—for example, one paragraph for each idea (x, y, z). For example, You should have three paragraphs for three recommendations and three paragraphs for three suggestions of what students should not do during their freshman year.
