Are germ cells called sex cells ?

Germ cells are types of cells which are related to sexual reproductive functions. So by that definition, sex cells like eggs and sperm are germ cells, however, I believe that they're more considered to be end products of germ cells after they go through meiosis and cellular differentiation into mature gametes (eggs/sperm).

No. Germ cells are diploid cells located in the gonads which undergo meiosis to create haploid sex cells. Hope this helps!

Germ cells produce gametes/sex cells (egg, sperm). Germ cells have half (haploid = n) the chromosome count of somatic cells (diploid = 2n).
