Your question, then, could be answered in a couple of ways. In the largest sense, the writer is comparing his relationship to that of the biblical king and the woman he lusted after.
If you want to focus on details instead, the religious phrase "hallelujah" (praise god) would have somewhat similar meaning if the scene were shifted into a bedroom, if you get my drift.

Hey, you do not mention that the song's composer is Leonard Cohen, a published poet, and novelist as well as a musician. Raised as a Jew and later devoted himself to Buddhism, many of Cohen's lyrics reference spirituality and often employ tropes from the Old Testament or the Torah. Finally, the ritual of haircutting is often used symbolically. They shaved the heard of Nazi collaborators in France after WWII, as one example.05/01/20
