The first sentence, "Jen is paddling thinking you for months." does not make sense. However, the next part does.
If Jen paddles at a rate of 35 yards in a minute, how would you figure out total number of yards for X minutes. X = number of minutes. So, just take 35 and multiply times the number of minutes.
Total Yards = 35 yards times X
Total Yards = 35(X) yds
