Be careful of extra spaces in your writing; teachers get distracted by that and unconsciously lower your grade. As for the grammar, the author's overall assumption that the disorder has reached epidemic proportions is correct as is because the author is talking about something he or she believes is happening now, but what follows (the proof) should be past tense because it was collected in 2019 and the author is writing in 2020.
