Then "five less than" the above expression would mean to subtract 5 from the expression: 18x - 5
Also, "is less than or equal to -45" can be written as : ≤ -45
Combining these gives the inequality: 18x - 5 ≤ -45
This can be solved using inverse operations:
18x - 5 ≤ -45
18x - 5 + 5 ≤ -45 + 5
18x ≤ -40
