Professor pete saheeter ate an entire pizza one night. each time he took a bite, 9 square centimeters of pizza disappeared. prof. saheetar was so hungry that once he started eating he could not stop. twenty-eight mintues later the pizza was finished. he took 20 seconds to lift the pizza to his mouth, take a bite, chew it, and swallow it. he never paused until he was done. to the nearest inch, what was the diameter of the pizza he ate?

8.614 inch diameter pizza:

28 minutes = 28x60 seconds or 1680 seconds total

1680/20 = 84 bites of 9 square centimeter bites each

84 x 9 = 752 square centimeters for the entire pizza

Area of a circular pizza is 2pi times the radius 2pi (r²) = 752 r² = 752/2pi = 119.685 cm r = the square root of 119.685 = 10.94 centimeter radius

divide by 2.54 to get equivalent number of inches 119.685/2.54= 4.307 inches

Multiply by two to get the diameter d=2r d=2(4.307) = 8.614 inch diameter, a little over 2/3 foot
