The Transatlantic Slave Trade was a horrific and brutal event that took place predominantly during the 16th and 19th centuries. It was a period of forced migration of approximately 12-15 million Africans. The reason it was called the "Triangular" Slave trade was that the way this tragic event connected the economies of three continents. For Africa, the continent was deprived of its working-class and suffered a dramatic decrease in population due to the deportation of millions of Africans. In exchange for Africans, Europeans traded old weaponry and textiles. In the Americas, Africans were sold throughout as slaves. Lastly, the agricultural products produced by the slaves were then brought back to Europe.
