I would have them justify their answer by showing an example, then do it with many different shapes to see if it is always true.
It's not always true. A rectangle has rotational symmetry for 180*, but not 90*. A kite has two lines of symmetry but no rotational symmetry.
This method helps the student discover the answer for themselves.
