3x+4=3.5x solve for x to get the break even point; subtract 3x from both sides.

4=.5x switch both sides

.5x=4 multiply both sides by 2

x=8 when you buy more than 8 candies per box, it's cheaper to buy at the 3x+4 rate given by Chocolate Bliss

But the problem doesn't mention the maximum number of candies that fit in one box. Let's say 8 is the maximum number of candies that fit in one box. Then it's always cheaper or always at least as cheap to buy from Expressions.

Chocolate Bliss : 3.5x + 4

Expressions : 3.5x

where x is the number of chocolates

the relationship would be:

3x + 4 < 3.5x

4 < 0.5x

8 < x
