To find percent of something, we multiply the percent (as a decimal) times the original number. In this case, we are given the actual percent (15%) and the result (33) without the original number. So we just set up an equation with the variable filling in for the original number and solve for the variable. It should look like this:
15% of (some number) = 33
0.15 X y = 33
Now solve for y to find your answer.
