I don't think they are literally the same place. The island as a whole is full of thick jungle with lots of spaces to hide. There could, however, be metaphorical/symbolic connections between the two places. The geography in the book is, in general, filled with all sorts of extra meaning. What do the two characters have in common? What are they hiding from in each case? How does the land protect or not protect them? I don't have the answers to these questions, but they could be worth thinking or writing about.
