Perspective is definitely challenging! The first issue is that Perspective in Drawing is not Geometry. In addition, the relationship between the observer and the picture plan is not based on where the observer is located as in closer or further from the picture plane.
Perspective is first and foremost a set of artistic conventions that have been used by artists through the ages to trick the eye into seeing 2D drawings and paintings as if they are real world 3D. This is quite a different exercise than the one you are working on in these drawings. Artist have come up with a wide variety of techniques to simulate the “closeness” and “distance” that the human eye perceives.
As a drawing and painting tutor it is part of my practice to help students understand how to create perspective in their artworks.
