There are many proofreading symbols used in editing a hard copy document. The easiest way to answer this is to have you check out this link, https://www.wordy.com/writers-workshop/proofreading-marks-symbols/
It has a graphic with many commonly used symbols. However, the symbols shown may vary slightly between proofreaders. For instance, the first symbol they show, which indicates the need to insert something, can be flipped, depending on your proofreader. Symbols for 'move left' or 'move right' may be extended the length of the space needed to be moved. When in doubt, ask your proofreader...or if you are the proofreader, it may help to provide the writer with a similar graphic as shown in the link. Hope that helps!
