James Bond is a complex character in many ways. In regard to killing, he sees it as part of his profession. He never likes doing it, but realizes it's an aspect of his job that must be done. He's quick and precise. Throughout the novels, he actually makes many observations about killing. In From Russia, with Love, he watches Kerim Bey shoot the Bulgarian killer Krilencu and makes a point of noting that he had never killed anyone in cold blood. Bond views the killings he's committed not as assassinations, but as tasks that must be completed in service to Her Majesty.
