Mendelian traits are based on the assumption of one gene one trait. And Gregor Mendel was very lucky to have worked with pea plants where that was true. But most characteristics are controlled by more than one gene that do not segreggate during meiosis in strict accordance with Mendel's law of segregation. They have complex mixed inheritance pattern. . Such traits are called non medelian traits.
