Hello!
Both similes and metaphors compare 2 unlike things. The difference is that similes use like or as, metaphors do not us like or as.
Simile example: She is sharp as a tack. (meaning - she is very smart)
The brothers fought like cats and dogs.
Metaphor example: Life is a roller coaster. (meaning - In the span of one's life there will be many ups, downs, twists, and turns.)
