A chloroplast is a organelle, inside of a plant cell. It is responsible for trapping light for the process of photosynthesis. When a plant cell successfully undergoes any sort of complete division, resulting in a new plant cell, a new chloroplast is also formed. Chloroplasts can also be found in species of algae.
