NADH and NADPH are both high energy electron carriers that are used to move protons/hydrogen ions across membranes to create a gradient that is used to do work. NADH is made in cellular respiration and is used to make ATP. NADPH is made during the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis and is used in the Calvin Cycle to molecularly rearrange molecules to produce PGAL which is used to make glucose.
